Interior and Exterior Upgrades: Our Home’s Complete Overhaul
Interior and exterior upgrades have always been a passion of ours, and as we start this new blog journey about our current house projects, we can’t help but look back at the incredible transformations we achieved in our old home. It was a true blank canvas when we moved in, with pristine white walls and a simple yard with minimal landscaping. Through various upgrades, we turned it into a personalized haven, reflecting our unique style and creativity.
One of the first challenges was tackling the painting. While I took on most of the rooms myself, the sheer amount of work led us to hire a painter for a major part of the house. It was a turning point when Chuck encouraged me to gain confidence and try some projects on my own.
The kitchen was one of the most exciting ventures. To keep costs in check, I decided to sand and paint the kitchen cabinets myself. We chose the color Accessible Beige SW7036 and I used this extreme bond primer as well for a lasting finish. The hardware was a unique find from our local Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and with a bit of creativity and Modern Masters Metal Effects, we achieved a stunning old hammered metal look.
Next up was the flooring, which proved to be a gratifying challenge. We chose a striking high variation hickory flooring from Home Depot and enlisted a friend’s help, who had experience in hardwood installation. The living room, dining room, and hallway were beautifully transformed in just one weekend. For the kitchen and front door area, we selected charming tiles and sought professional help for the installation.
The main bathroom was another space we revamped. Using the same tile from the kitchen tied everything together. Professional tile installation was once again the way to go to ensure a level and polished finish. The bathroom makeover also included a new vanity made from an upcycled roadside find and fresh paint from Sherwin Williams.
Our hardwood flooring journey didn’t end there. We continued the stunning flooring into all of the bedrooms, adding warmth and cohesion to the entire home.
While we could go on about all the other amazing projects we undertook inside the house, let’s save some time and show you the visual highlights. From cozy corners to personalized touches, we poured our hearts into each transformation.
Certainly! Here’s the revised sentence:
Our next post will feature outdoor projects such as a pergola and a koi pond that showcase our unique style. We hope these projects inspire you to embark on your own home improvement adventures. Whether big or small, with a little creativity and some help from friends and professionals, you can achieve remarkable results in your interior and exterior upgrades.
Here’s to creating spaces that truly reflect your unique style and personality!
