Revamping Our Main Bathroom: A Fresh Green Makeover Tale

Welcome to our home renovation adventure! Today, we want to share with you the exciting transformation of our main bathroom. As you can see from the pictures, it was due for a much-needed update. Our goal was to maintain the house’s original charm while giving the space a modern twist. After careful consideration, we settled on a stunning shade of green called “Mint Condition” from Sherwin Williams to bring new life to the walls.

The bathroom presented a unique challenge with tile on the lower half of the walls and textured plaster on the upper half. To tackle this, we needed the right approach to painting. After some research and advice from the knowledgeable sales team at our local store, we opted for the “Extreme Bond Primer” to ensure proper adhesion on different surfaces.

Before diving into the painting process, we decided to revamp the vanity to complement the fresh look. Although we initially planned to replace it, the floor was tiled around it, making it more practical to update the existing one. As we couldn’t sand the vanity, we went ahead with the primer to provide a solid base for the paint.

For the vanity paint, we chose Sherwin Williams’ elegant “Alabaster” color, accompanied by their top-notch “Emerald Urethane Enamel” paint. This paint was a delightful surprise – it went on thick and smoothly, providing excellent coverage. We used an extra soft brush from Purdy to ensure a flawless finish, though we recommend stiffer brushes for intricate projects.

As the paint dried, we noticed it had a self-leveling property, which resulted in a beautiful and smooth surface. However, it’s essential to touch up any running spots during the drying process to achieve a perfect look. The end result was fantastic, and the updated vanity breathed new life into the space.

Next, we tackled the drawers and doors of the vanity. Working with the slats on the doors required some patience, but the effort paid off when we replaced the original wooden knobs with gorgeous square glass knobs. To enhance their appearance, we added black backplates, adding a touch of sophistication.

With the vanity looking stunning, we turned our attention to the walls. The “Mint Condition” green transformed the space, creating a fresh and inviting atmosphere. To complete the look, we replaced the door knobs with sleek black levers boasting clean lines, adding a modern touch to the bathroom’s overall aesthetics.

While we’re thrilled with the transformation so far, the makeover isn’t complete yet. We’ve got more exciting plans in store for the bathroom! Stay tuned as we work on updating the lighting, mirror, and tile to elevate the space to the next level.
