Our First Project: Making our Home Comfortable

Moving into a new home is always an exciting experience, but it comes with its own set of challenges. After settling into our new place, we realized that the airflow during the day wasn’t ideal, especially since we lack central air. Luckily, we have a whole-house fan that helps in the mornings and evenings when it is cool enough. Opening the windows was an option too, but in certain rooms like my office and bedroom, it just didn’t cut it, leaving us hot and uncomfortable.

To remedy this, we decided to install ceiling fans in these rooms. Finding some great clearance deals at Home Depot, we were eager to get started. However, we soon discovered that the wiring in an older house can be quite different from what we were used to. A little mishap led to the realization that calling in an expert would be the safer choice.

We came across Joseph Mone Electrical, a local electrician, and they were incredible! Responding promptly and showing up with impressive know-how, they swiftly fixed the wiring issue. It turned out that our house was wired for continuous power, causing the white wire to carry current, which was not something we were familiar with. Thanks to the expertise of the brothers from Joseph Mone Electrical, we now had our ceiling fans installed and running smoothly.

As we got more comfortable in our new home, we realized there were other electrical jobs we needed help with, particularly related to low voltage wiring. The specialized lighting switches in the house had a unique brass and almond design that we surprisingly fell in love with, complementing the overall style of the home. The convenience of the dual dials in the master bedroom and kitchen, allowing us to control the lights in any room, was another fascinating feature.

Though we were learning the ropes of home improvement, we knew when it was time to seek professional assistance. Joseph Mone Electrical came to our rescue again, helping us with various low voltage wiring tasks. From adding lighting boxes in the living room to installing new outlets in the bathrooms, they skillfully handled it all. They even fixed a broken relay in one of the low voltage light switches. I will be telling you more about that late on.

Our neighbor, kind enough to save the original outlet covers when upgrading to modern ones, also offered them to us, ensuring our home retained its unique charm.

With the expertise of Joseph Mone Electrical, our home improvement journey became a success. We now enjoy the perfect airflow and the convenience of well-placed lighting controls throughout the house. If you ever find yourself in need of electrical help, don’t hesitate to reach out to local experts like we did. It’s the key to a comfortable and happy home!
